Research on Ego !

The Ego

Ego is a Latin word meaning "I", cognate with the Greek "Εγώ (Ego)" meaning "I", often used in English to mean the "self", "identity" or other related concepts.

The ego separates us from our surroundings, rather than connecting us to the oneness between humans and the natural world.
This can lead to being out of harmony and full of distress. If we want to enjoy the unfolding of life we can’t let the ego distract us.

The ego is the exact force that gets in the way of experiencing a balanced, meaningful, and significant life.

Warning few signs of ego

1. Is calling with disrespects and shout.
2. You always have to have more.
3. You have to be right always.
4. You feel tense, uncomfortable, with your surroundings and peoples.
5. You must always be winning and you hate losing.
This selfishness rears its head in our everyday dealings and interactions because you set out to live for your ultimate satisfaction (basically, to avoid pain). If you seek pleasure, you’re avoiding pain. As long as it believes it’s here to avoid pain, ego continues to thrive.

You don’t want your happiness conditional upon the behavior of other people. It’s bad enough that your happiness is conditional upon your own behavior.

The common term for ego used in the Qur'an and Sunnah is "Kibr".
Understandably, the Sahabah (companions of the Muhammad –may Allah’s peace and blessing be upon him) were terrified by this statement.

One of them asked the Prophet (peace be upon him) "I like my dress to be clean and my shoes to be clean" The Prophet(peace be upon him) replied: "That is not it……………  "Kibr is rejecting the truth and belittling people."

Allah (God) Says in Holy Quran:

“…..False worship (shirk) is indeed the highest wrongdoing” [Luqman 31:13]

That is Allah, your Lord! there is no god but He, the Creator of all things: then worship ye Him: and He hath power to dispose of all affairs. (6:102)

“Indeed, He (Allah) does not love the proud.” [an-Nahl (16):23]

“So enter the gates of Hell to dwell therein. Indeed evil is the abode of the proud.” [An-Nahl (16):29]

Last Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) said (Books of Hadith) :

“Pride is dissatisfaction with the truth, and belittling the people.” [Muslim]

“He will not enter Paradise who has even a speck of pride in his heart.” [Muslim]
The bottom line is that since you approached them in the name of rejection, you’re going to be dancing on the edge of rejection throughout the interaction. Every time you do something in the name of avoiding pain, that something becomes a link that holds the potential to the pain you’re avoiding. In order to assure your acceptance, you try to present yourself a certain way so that you can win friends and influence people.

He inquires about your business, and prospects in life. He seeks your confidence that he may steal your purse. He hints at easy ways of getting a living. "There is no need," he says, "of a man making a slave of himself.

In another way the young man is enticed. He enters a parlour. He has never played cards before. But here is a table covered with cards, and the wine-cup is at hand; and beauty and intelligence are shuffling and dealing the innocent toys, and invite him to take a hand. In vain he pleads ignorance of the game. They will teach him. He becomes a learner. He plays on for the excitement, and to enjoy the pleasures of society.

Allah (God) revealed a verse:

“Satan wants only to excite enmity and hatred between you with intoxicants (alcoholic drinks) and gambling, and hinder you from the remembrance of God and from the prayer.  So, will you not then abstain?” (Quran 5:91)

Gambling, alcohol is one of the tools Satan uses to distract humankind from the worship of Allah (God). Allah (God) states clearly in the Quran that Satan is an open enemy towards humankind yet by drinking alcohol and Gambling, we invite Satan into our lives and make it easy for him to distract us from our real purpose in life, to worship Allah (God).

Allah (God) revealed commandments in Holy Quran:

MEDICINE FOR ALCOHOL

Alcoholism: Physical dependence on alcohol to the extent that stopping alcohol use would bring on withdrawal symptoms. the term may also be used to refer to ingrained drinking habits that cause health or social problems. (Medical dictionary definition).

According to WHO,
Facts and figures
We know what can and needs to be done to help reduce the burden of psychoactive substance use. Therefore, WHO is committed to assisting countries in the development, organization, monitoring and evaluation of treatment and other services.
  • The harmful use of alcohol results in 2.5 million deaths each year.

  • 320,000 young people between the age of 15 and 29 die from alcohol-related causes, resulting in 9% of all deaths in that age group.

Many people are surprised to learn what counts as a drink.  The amount of liquid in your glass, can, or bottle does not necessarily match up to how much alcohol is actually in your drink.

How do you know how much alcohol is in your drink?

Even though they come in different sizes, the drinks below are each examples of one standard drink:

Alcohol Use Disorders

Alcohol use disorders are medical conditions that doctors can diagnose when a patient’s drinking causes distress or harm. In the United States, about 18 million people have an alcohol use disorder, classified as either alcohol dependence—perhaps better known as alcoholism—or alcohol abuse.
Alcoholism, the more serious of the disorders, is a disease that includes symptoms such as:

Craving : A strong need, or urge, to drink.

Loss of control : Not being able to stop drinking once drinking has begun.

Physical dependence : Withdrawal symptoms, such as nausea, sweating, shakiness, and anxiety after stopping drinking.

Tolerance : The need to drink greater amounts of alcohol to feel the same effect.

People who are alcoholic often will spend a great deal of their time drinking, making sure they can get alcohol, and recovering from alcohol’s effects, often at the expense of other activities and responsibilities.
Although alcohol abusers are not physically dependent on alcohol, they still have a serious disorder. Alcohol abusers may not fulfill responsibilities at home, work, or school because of their drinking. They may also put themselves in dangerous situations (like driving under the influence) or have legal or social problems (such as arrests or arguments with family members) due to their drinking

Alcohol's Effects on the Body

Drinking too much – on a single occasion or over time – can take a serious toll on your health.  Here’s how alcohol can affect your body:

Brain:
Alcohol interferes with the brain’s communication pathways, and can affect the way the brain looks and works. These disruptions can change mood and behavior, and make it harder to think clearly and move with coordination.
Heart:
Drinking a lot over a long time or too much on a single occasion can damage the heart, causing problems including:
  • Cardiomyopathy – Stretching and drooping of heart muscle
  • Arrhythmias – Irregular heart beat
  • Stroke
  • High blood pressure
Liver:
Heavy drinking takes a toll on the liver, and can lead to a variety of problems and liver inflammations including:
  • Steatosis, or fatty liver
  • Alcoholic hepatitis
  • Fibrosis
  • Cirrhosis
Pancreas:
Alcohol causes the pancreas to produce toxic substances that can eventually lead to pancreatitis, a dangerous inflammation and swelling of the blood vessels in the pancreas that prevents proper digestion.
Cancer:
Drinking too much alcohol can increase your risk of developing certain cancers, including cancers of the:
  • Mouth
  • Esophagus
  • Throat
  • Liver
  • Breast
Immune System:
Drinking too much can weaken your immune system, making your body a much easier target for disease.  Chronic drinkers are more liable to contract diseases like pneumonia and tuberculosis than people who do not drink too much.  Drinking a lot on a single occasion slows your body’s ability to ward off infections – even up to 24 hours after getting drunk.

SOLUTION:

Alcoholism Treatment:

It is your choice to continue drinking but if you have decided to stop, you have come to the right place.

For treatment you can contact any Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Research Center.

Alcoholism is a chronic brain disease. The brain has been hijacked by an illness. You must be disciplined and fight for your life. You are in a life and death struggle, and the war is played out in your mind, body, and spirit.

There are three things that you can do that will bring the illness under control. These new behaviors may seem unnatural for you at first, but you must do them all. If you leave one of the tools out, your chances of recovery significantly decrease.

Let's briefly go over the tools so that you can begin to understand them. You have to do three things to stay sober: (1) get honest, (2) go to 12-step meetings, and (3) get on a spiritual journey to the Higher Power of your own understanding.

You can be proud of yourself because now you are doing something right. Now you will step out in truth to help others and yourself.

Get on a spiritual journey to the Higher Power of your own understanding.

Islam’s holistic approach to health and well-being means that anything that is harmful or mostly harmful, is forbidden.  Therefore,  Islam takes an uncompromising stand towards alcohol and forbids its consumption in either small or large quantities.  Alcohol is undoubtedly harmful and adversely affects the mind and the body.
The Quran is a book of guidance sent to all of humankind.  It is a set of instructions from the Creator for His creation.
Alcohol affects the mind and makes sinful behaviour and evil actions fair seeming.  It creates enmity and hatred between people, prevents them from remembering God and distracts them from praying, and calls them to participate in unlawful sexual relationships.  Alcohol generates shame, regret, and disgrace, and renders the drinker witless.  It leads to the disclosure of secrets and exposure of faults.

Allah (God) revealed a verse:
“Satan wants only to excite enmity and hatred between you with intoxicants (alcoholic drinks) and gambling, and hinder you from the remembrance of God and from the prayer.  So, will you not then abstain?” (Holy Quran 5:91)

Alcohol is one of the tools Satan uses to distract humankind from the worship of Allah (God). Allah (God) states clearly in the Quran that Satan is an open enemy towards humankind yet by drinking alcohol, we invite Satan into our lives and make it easy for him to distract us from our real purpose in life, to worship Allah (God).

“Surely, Satan is an enemy to you, so treat him as an enemy.  He only invites his followers that they may become the dwellers of the blazing Fire.” (Holy Quran 35:6)

Allah (God) revealed  a verse totally prohibiting Alcohol, Idolatry, Gambling.

“O you who believe!  Intoxicants (all kinds of alcoholic drinks), gambling, idolatry, and diving arrows are an abomination of Satan’s handiwork.  So avoid that so that you may be successful.” (Holy Quran 5: 90)

MANNERS OF SLEEPING

Sleep has two major benefits to offer: sleep confers rest, comfort and peace upon one who enjoys it, for when someone suffers from complete exhaustion, only sleep can restore his lost energy and freshness. It gives perfect peace and rest to all organs and thus fatigue takes leave. Secondly sleep helps in digestion food. During sleep natural heat of the body goes into stomach and helps digestive system. It is because of this the body of the sleeping person becomes cold and needs some cover.

The best sleep starts with sleeping on the right side, because sleeping in this style makes food stay in the stomach properly. Since the stomach is generally inclined towards the left side this sleeping posture is the most suitable. However one should adopt the left posture after a while so that digestive system works rapidly; because stomach is bowing towards the liver.

Sleeping on the left side for a longer period causes harm, for the whole system turns towards the heart during sleep and it has to undergo undue pressure.

However, the Prophet of Allah (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would take sleep according to need. When overpowered by sleep, he would lie on his bed on his right side with his hand under his cheek. But he never felt sleepy due to over-eating because it was against his nature.

Moreover, he never slept on the ground or on the high cushion. He generally used leather bedding filled with date tissues. Sometimes he used pillow and at times he used his hand in place of pillow.
The Worse type of sleeping is on the backside. One may lie down in this style for some rest, but sleeping it is harmful. Sleeping with face down is the worst of all. “Abu Amama is being quoted in Musnad Ahmad and Ibn Majah as saying:The Prophet of Allah (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying, for it is the sleeping style of the people of Hell.”

Sleeping in the day is generally harmful. It affects complexion adversely. Loosens the nervous system, creates tethargy and hampers sexual potency. However sleeping in the day during summer is permissible. Good habit of sleeping is sleeping during the summer days, and the “Prophet of Allah (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) practiced it”.

Sahihain Hadith reports that from Bra’a bin Aazib (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “ when you are about to go to bed, perform wudu (ablution)like the wudu (ablution)of salaat and then invoke the following after lying your right side………..”

Q what is Wudu?
A. Wudu means Ablution, to secure cleanness from the Minor Invisible Uncleanness. This is mandatory before every daily prayer.

Since sleep and death are very close to one another and are called sisters. Hence sleeping person is like a dead person! Thus he requires protection and safeguards while asleep. He wants to be well-guarded from all dangers and calamities. But only Allah (God) can protect him from any untowards incidents and accidents. He is the only guide, Guard, Supervisor, and Protector, Refuge and Shelter.

A fruit with Multivitamin !

DATES

Benefits of Dates:

The fruit is rich in dietary fiber, which prevents dietary LDL cholesterol absorption in the gut. It is also a good bulk laxative. The fiber content helps to protect the colon mucous membrane by decreasing exposure time and as well as binding to cancer causing chemicals in the colon.

They contain many health benefitting flavonoid polyphenolic antioxidants known as tannins. Tannins are known to have anti-infective, anti-inflammatory, and anti-hemorrhagic (prevent easy bleeding tendencies) properties.

Hadith from our Beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)
(1) The Prophet (PBUH) said: “Break your fast by eating dates as it is purifying.” (Narrated by Ahmad)

The Prophet , said: “Whoever starts his day by eating seven 'Ajwah dates, he will not be harmed by any poison or magic on that day.” [Al-Bukhaari and Muslim]

Another narration reads: “Whoever eats seven dates from within the vicinity of Madeenah no poison will harm him until the evening.” [Muslim]
Here are a couple of more narrations,

Narrated Sa'd: I suffered from an illness. The Messenger of Allah –may Allah bless him- came to pay a visit to me. He put his hands on my chest and I felt its coolness at my heart. He said: “You are a man suffering from heart sickness. Go to al-Harith ibn Kaladah, brother of Thaqif. He is a man who gives medical treatment. He should take seven ajwah dates of Medina and grind them with their kernels, and then put them into your mouth.” (Sunan Abu DawudHadith no. 3875)

More Benefits of dates:

Wonderfully delicious, dates are one of the most popular fruits with an impressive list of essential nutrients, vitamins, and minerals, required for normal growth, development and overall well-being.

Fresh date is made of soft, easily digestible flesh with simple sugars like fructose and dextrose that when eaten replenishes energy and revitalizes the body instantly; thus, for these qualities, dates are being used to breakfast during Ramadan months.

They are a good source of Vitamin-A (contains 149 IU per 100 g), which is known to have antioxidant properties and is essential for vision. Vitamin A also required maintaining healthy mucus membranes and skin. Consumption of natural fruits rich in vitamin A is known to help to protect from lung and oral cavity cancers.

The fruit is very rich in antioxidant flavonoids such as beta-carotene, lutein, and zeaxanthin. These antioxidants have the ability to help protect cells and other structures in the body from oxygen free radicals and thereby found to be protective against colon, prostate, breast, endometrial, lung, and pancreatic cancers.

Zeaxanthin, an important dietary carotenoid selectively absorbed into the retinal macula lutea where it is thought to provide antioxidant and protective light-filtering functions; thus it offers protection against age related macular degeneration, especially in elderly populations.

Dates are an excellent source of iron, contains 0.90 mg/100 g of fruits (about 11% of RDI). Iron, being a component of hemoglobin inside the red blood cells, determines the oxygen carrying capacity of the blood.

In addition, They are good in potassium. Potassium is an important component of cell and body fluids that help controlling heart rate and blood pressure; thus offers protection against stroke and coronary heart diseases.

They are also rich in minerals like calcium, manganese, copper, and magnesium. Calcium is an important mineral that is an essential constituent of bone and teeth, and required by the body for muscle contraction, blood clotting, and nerve impulse conduction. Manganese is used by the body as a co-factor for the antioxidant enzyme, superoxide dismutase. Copper is required in the production of red blood cells. Magnesium is essential for bone growth.

Further, the fruit has adequate levels of B-complex group of vitamins as well as vitamin K. It contains very good amounts of pyridoxine (vitamin B-6), niacin, pantothenic acid, and riboflavin. These vitamins are acting as cofactors help body metabolize carbohydrates, protein, and fats. Vitamin K is essential for many coagulant factors in the blood as well as in bone metabolism.

etiquette of Foods

Islam (Peace)has laid great emphasis in mental, spiritual and physical health of Human Beings. Islamic medicines came into being as a result of the integration of the traditions of Greek medicines with the theories and practices of the Persians and the Indians.
Human is either healthy or unhealthy with respect to his physical and spiritual states. Islam has laid stress on the total health of Man.

MANNERS OF EATING.

An Arab Physician Harith bin Kalada was once asked,

Q. What is the best medicine ?
A. "Necessity ---- That is hunger!" he replied.

Q. What is disease ? " he was again asked.?
A. The entry of food upon food". he replied.

"Never have a meal until the one before it has been digested."

Last Messenger of Allah (Peace & be Upon him) to have forbidden eating while lying down.

Last Messenger of Allah (Peace & be Upon him) has said,
"Eat some supper, even if it is only a handful of dry bread, for going without the evening meal makes you grow old."

Last Messenger of Allah (Peace & be Upon him) to have forbidden blowing on food or drink or breathing into a container was not the practice of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him).
